Basic attack

The Basic Attack has 4 hits: 1A is a palm swing, 2A a stomp, 3A consecutive advancing strikes ending in a launch, and 4A uses the Wild Lion's Mane Technique, whipping his hair to attack the enemy.

Tip The Basic Attack has high combo stability overall.

Special Basic AttackBasic attack · Special

Holding the down direction key while Basic Attacking makes Legendary Jiraiya perform the special Basic Attack, 5A in total: 1A swings a palm, 2A stomps, 3A elbow followed by a downward kick, 4A leaps with a flying kick, 5A grabs the enemy with his hair and then throws them. From 2A of the special Basic Attack onward, each A forms a hand seal; 2A corresponds to Boar. Release the down direction key during the special Basic Attack.

Tip The special Basic Attack lets you form hand seals quickly, so you can quickly obtain the seal combination you want.

Super Big Ball RasenganSkill 1

Jiraiya thrusts a Rasengan forward to attack the enemy. Hold the skill button to move freely, and release the button to dash out. Used after different skills, the Rasengan's form changes.

Tip Using the Rasengan after Needle Jizo, or after Toad Oil Flame Bullet before landing, Jiraiya leaps into the air to attack downward; using the Rasengan after Swamp of the Underworld, Jiraiya Body Flickers above the swamp to attack the enemy continuously. A Rasengan that hits an enemy with a burning effect is wrapped in flames and attacks the enemy together with the fire.

Super Big Ball RasenganSkill 1 · Link

A Rasengan or aerial Rasengan that hits an enemy afflicted with burning becomes a Fire Rasengan, which gradually expands and then bursts. Using Skill 1 after Needle Jizo or Toad Oil Flame Bullet makes him Body Flicker into the air and chase the enemy with a Rasengan. Used after Swamp of the Underworld, Jiraiya Body Flickers above the enemy and keeps attacking the enemy trapped in the swamp with the Rasengan.

Tip A Rasengan can be branched at the end of a sub-skill for a stronger attack.

Hand SealsSkill 2

Press the skill and Jiraiya can choose one of four seal sets to add to the seal queue. You can also form seals by holding the down direction key during a Basic attack. Depending on the seals in the queue, Jiraiya gains different sub-skills: when the seals include "Boar, Dog, Rooster, Monkey, Ram", Jiraiya can use the Summoning Jutsu; when the seals include "Tiger, Horse, Boar, Ram, Snake", Jiraiya can use Needle Jizo; when the seals cannot form Needle Jizo but include "Boar, Tiger", Jiraiya can use Swamp of the Underworld; when they cannot form a complete set of seals, he can use Toad Oil Bullet and Fire Style: Flame Bullet

Tip Using Toad Oil Bullet or Fire Style: Flame Bullet after the Summoning Jutsu, Jiraiya attacks the enemy with Toad Oil Flame Bullet together with Gamachu; using Needle Jizo after Toad Oil Bullet or Fire Style: Flame Bullet, Jiraiya lands above the oil fire and attacks with his hair; using the Summoning Jutsu after Swamp of the Underworld, Jiraiya summons Gamabunta falling from the sky, then burns the enemies in the swamp together with Bunta using Toad Oil Flame Bullet

Needle JizoSkill 2

Needle Jizo is unlocked by the hand seals Tiger, Horse, Boar, Ram, Snake. You have super armor during it, and holding extends the defense time. Cast after sub-skill stage 1, Toad Oil Bullet, Legendary Jiraiya Body Flickers above the oil slick and drops down, wrapping the enemy in his hair, then bursts the hair outward to pierce them. Cast after sub-skill stage 2, Fire Style: Flame Bullet, he Body Flickers above the flames instead.

Tip Cast normally, it can counter the opponent's attack. Cast after Toad Oil Bullet or Fire Style: Flame Bullet, it triggers a grab attack.

Swamp of the UnderworldSkill 2

The hand seals Boar, Tiger unlock the sub-skill Swamp of the Underworld. Legendary Jiraiya Body Flickers backward and summons a swamp in front of him that grabs enemies.

Tip An area grab skill. The Body Flicker movement can be used to dodge enemy attacks.

Summoning JutsuSkill 2

The hand seals Boar, Dog, Rooster, Monkey, Ram unlock the sub-skill Summoning Jutsu. Legendary Jiraiya summons Toad Chū, who grabs the enemy with his tongue and slams them hard into the ground. Cast after the sub-skill Swamp of the Underworld, Legendary Jiraiya summons Gamabunta, who pins the enemy sunk in the swamp with his blade and forms a powerful fire tornado to attack them.

Tip A fast grab skill. Used together with Swamp of the Underworld, it can hold the enemy for a long time.

Toad Oil Bullet / Fire Style: Flame BulletSkill 2 · Oil / Flame Bullet

When Legendary Jiraiya has not formed any particular hand seals, he can cast this sub-skill, which needs no seals. It has two stages: the first sprays a Toad Oil Bullet forward that slows enemies it hits; the second sprays a Fire Style: Flame Bullet forward that burns. Cast after Summoning Jutsu, Legendary Jiraiya casts the Toad Oil Flame Bullet together with the summoned Toad Chū.

Tip A wide-area attack skill that deals heavy damage quickly when cast after Summoning Jutsu. If an enemy is hit by both the Toad Oil Bullet and the Fire Style: Flame Bullet, the burn they take is increased.

Toad Oil Flame Bullet: RasenganUltimate

Jiraiya summons Gamabunta and performs a Toad Oil Flame Bullet combo attack with Bunta, and finally finishes the enemy trapped in the raging fire with a Rasengan.

Hand SealsSpecial mechanic

Legendary Jiraiya forms hand seals through special basic attacks and Skill 2. There are 4 seal groups to choose from: Boar; Dog, Rooster; Monkey, Ram; Snake, Horse, Tiger. You can hold at most three groups of seals at once. If you keep forming new seals, or hold Skill 2 without selecting a seal, Legendary Jiraiya clasps his hands together and keeps gathering chakra. After a while he enters Sage Mode, which raises his sensing ability and reduces skill cooldowns.

Tip The hand seal mechanic lets you switch sub-skills quickly and chain varied combos.
